This marks the last article I will compose before one of two scenarios unfolds: our boat arrives in Gaza, or Israeli forces capture it. We anticipate arriving by early October, after sailing the waters from late September.

Earlier this month featured Israeli forces apprehending the personnel on the primary aid vessels just before their scheduled arrival. This is likely the same moment at which Israeli authorities could endeavor to seize our ships from the Thousand Madleens and Freedom Flotilla Coalition.

Sailing Amid Uncertain Waters

Our subsequent convoy has maintained course regardless of various stories about what happened of the earlier activists. When we were off Cyprus, organizing evening shifts under the shadow of a loud unidentified drone, we received news that Israel had illegally commandeered the two main Sumud boats in international waters.

Next day delivered troubling information during my regular activities: washing plastic bowls in the compact galley, reviewing communications repeatedly as Israeli forces methodically took the remainder of the flotilla.

This situation has simply enhanced our shared resolve to persist in our journey.

Living Conditions Aboard

During this voyage phase, I've created a schedule. My sleep schedule involves taking first sleep shift overnight, then handling nighttime monitoring until dawn approaches, securing additional rest afterwards for a total of five hours. Further sleeping becomes impractical amid rough seas and frequent disturbances from shared accommodation.

My sleeping arrangement consists of a thin padding positioned above the couch in the collective area. Each morning I dress inside my sleeping bag while someone prepares coffee mere meters away. Various elements of shared living with six other individuals aboard a compact boat need substantial acclimation.

The Journey's Objective

The healthcare materials and infant nutrition products packed in the rear compartment and cockpit area of our vessel could save numerous lives if we reach our destination. During a recent interview, an interviewer proposed they viewed our mission as symbolic as stopping appeared certain.

From distant perspectives, this reading may look credible. But, subsequent to traveling extended periods with relief supplies surrounding you constantly, familiar with its specific storage, maintaining hope becomes essential for assisting desperate communities.

Beyond Humanitarian Aid

However, delivering aid does not represent the mission's final objective. Representatives regularly ask about not allowing them distribute our supplies. Apart from warranted concern about whether distribution would occur during sustained barriers, agreeing to these terms would implicitly acknowledge authority concerning maritime zones.

Disturbing Developments

Additional accounts surfaced about the Sumud flotilla participants: movement to Negev facility, categorization as undocumented migrants regardless of compelled relocation outside national jurisdiction. Accounts described withholding of basic necessities comprising hydration, treatment and nourishment, along with disrespectful behavior and sometimes brutality through facility staff.

Updated figures revealed over three hundred participants were expelled as multiple individuals continued confined.

Wider Perspective

These conditions appear horrific but they diminish beside to the organized brutality experienced by detained Palestinians within the same facilities. Documented cases include deadly force leading to mortality without subsequent accountability for involved personnel.

Advocacy institutions have comprehensively chronicled systematic mistreatment methods and sexual violence incidents inside confinement facilities. Although global attention regarding flotilla participants' treatment stays warranted and essential, equivalent consideration proved missing for Palestinian suffering during years of struggle.

Dawn Contemplations

Daily dawn I behold the infinite aquatic realm and the descending amber moon prior to following sunrise. This oceanic autonomy to travel enormous seas underscores the crucial understanding that our mission transcends charity.

Autonomy for Palestinian people continues elusive and our individual rights shall stay diminished until that freedom is attained. This fundamental truth illuminates our ongoing journey. The explanation stands uncomplicated.
