The former Liverpool manager says coming back to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, indicated that returning someday remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign that included continental glory and the Premier League crown for three decades, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won England's top flight last season, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would welcome the possibility that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he explained to his interviewer: “I declared I will never coach any other side on English soil. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“I’m 58, which suggests I could make the decision in a few years, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding which situations would need to occur to bring him back to management, he confessed he isn't eager to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; No need for interviews four times, three times a week or constant media duties weekly.

“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, however, dining out alongside the squad talking freely, that’s nice. We won a lot of games meaning regularly positive atmosphere at the club. I still have Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the adjustments that won the league last term. The team has suffered a string of losses in every contest after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the notion it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, incredible player. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry over the club, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and the effect for the team. The Portugal international was killed in a road accident together with his sibling recently.

“Can you substitute such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the dressing room absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys also. Not a single person might employ it to justify results but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Handling this emotionally is difficult. Unbearable.”
