Salah Issues Regret to Squad, Says Curtis Jones

The Liverpool midfielder has shared that the Egyptian forward apologised to the entire Liverpool squad following the fallout from his televised remarks.

The Incident

The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match after criticising the club and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.

“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”

The head coach has chosen not to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the veteran striker.

Team Unity

Jones insisted that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “He was his usual self, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” Jones added.

The midfielder also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I get that there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”

On-Field Response

Liverpool's form have remained strong in the games following the situation. He feels the outburst were not designed to cause disruption.

“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a good place,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, getting results and starting to win games.”
