Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
