Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak came to an end by Sunderland before the international break, however can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.

For the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Football and Parenting Life

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games down the years - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not push football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their weekend soccer side," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our side for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their offense is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be fairly close, though. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

The singer's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' only away win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's coach.

So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be the Hammers continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few people under their manager and are in good form with three in their last four matches.

My son advised me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great success on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Olly's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it in reality turns out to be rather close. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have lots of talent in their team but it still feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

As for the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice would be to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's home form, the only side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be extremely eager for a positive result, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a poor streak... but they have still been respectable at home this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
